AI Brand Audit: how ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity talk about your brand
A Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI visibility audit in 30 to 45 days: 80 questions across 6 AI platforms, what they say about you, who they cite instead of you, and which sources they draw on.
Request the AI Light AuditWhat happens when a customer asks an AI about you
A procurement director asks ChatGPT which vendors to consider. A consumer asks Gemini whether a brand can be trusted. The answer arrives in seconds, reads like an informed opinion, and often ends the search: if you are missing from that answer, you are out of the running.
The 2026 numbers show how common this is. Between 83% and 94% of B2B buyers use AI to research vendors before they talk to a sales rep, according to surveys by Marketing Graham and Forrester. In the United States, nearly 60% of consumers used an AI tool to research a major purchase, up from 41% a year earlier, according to Invoca.
AI platforms build their answers from what they find on the web: your site, press coverage, reviews, Wikipedia, your competitors’ sites. Some sources carry far more weight than others: Reddit, Wikipedia, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Forbes are the domains AI cites most often, according to the 2026 AI Platform Citation Source Index by Everything-PR. When those sources are outdated, incomplete, or say more about others than about you, the answer shows it.
Media monitoring tools and traditional SEO capture none of this, because an AI answer leaves no trace in search results. The AI Brand Audit measures that visibility and tells you where it comes from.
Four things an AI does with your brand
Answers
It describes who you are using inaccurate, outdated, or partial information, presented with the tone of objective truth.
Positions
It places you in a category you never chose: “budget option” instead of “premium.”
Excludes
In industry recommendations it does not mention you, and no alert system picks that up.
Warns
It adds phrases like “some users report issues with…,” which lower trust before the first contact.
What a GEO audit measures
We ask 80 questions, chosen with you at the kickoff meeting, to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. The questions fall into four types: who you are and what you do, how you compare with competitors, who gets recommended in your category, and which problems are attributed to you. Every answer is recorded, compared across platforms, and traced back to the sources behind it. The result is four indicators, plus AI Share of Voice.
How we work
The method is ThinkAI BrandOS™, in four phases: monitor, diagnose, shape, correct. The audit covers the first two and sets up the others.
Kickoff meeting
We define the scope: markets, languages, competitors, and the questions your customers really ask.
Collection
We run the 80 questions on every platform and record the answers with the sources they cite.
Analysis
We trace the causes: which page, article, or review produced a wrong description or an exclusion.
Executive debrief
We present the results to leadership, with the priorities for action.

GEO and AI search optimization: what changes compared with SEO
SEO works on where a page ranks in search results. Generative Engine Optimization works on the answer an AI writes: whether your brand is named, how it is described, and from which sources. People who talk about AI SEO or AI search optimization mean the same work.
The two support each other. AI reads the same pages Google reads, so a clear, well-organized site helps in both cases. What changes is what you measure. A generated answer is a piece of text that names a few brands, without the list of ten links search has accustomed us to. A site can rank first on Google for its category and still be missing from ChatGPT’s answer to the same question.
The GEO audit starts here: first you measure what AI answers, then you decide where to act.
Who it is for
The audit is designed for companies whose brand is part of purchase decisions shaped by AI: travel and hospitality, finance and insurance, healthcare, automotive, fashion and luxury, consumer goods. The people we work with are usually the heads of marketing and communications, and whoever reports to the board on reputational risk.
Timeline and cost
The audit takes 30 to 45 days and includes two meetings. The fee is fixed and agreed before we start. There are no variable costs and no commitments afterward: when it is done, you decide whether and how to continue.
After the audit: AI brand monitoring
AI answers change with every update to the models and their sources, so a one-time measurement goes out of date. If you want to follow the trend over time, the next step is continuous monitoring: IntentIQ, ThinkAI’s proprietary platform, compares the answers of 6 AI platforms on the same questions used in the audit.
